Ultimate Goal:

To create a dynamic, award winning museum in Wanaka for local families, residents and tourists. We believe there is an increasing need for indoor activities in the central Wanaka area. Providing interactive, educational activities for tourists and families at their leisure with low cost. The goal would be to build something spectacular, a museum Wanaka is proud of and willing to support. 

 

Current Focus:

For now - The Wanaka Museum Online is the core focus of the Museum Directors Group: Pip Cawthorn, Sally Norman & Nikki Latham - only made possible by the much appreciated local contributors.

The website will be based on Wanaka and surrounding regions, the people, the achievements, the land, and the cultural history of our lakeside town. An interactive, easy to use map with snippets of fascinating, historical and educational information.

 

Another section of the site will contain oral histories and other stories collected under the title 'From the Suitcase'. The site aims to launch in September 2020.
